Hello. My name is Adam.
The fact that you're at this page means that you're most likely trying to learn about me. God knows why, I'm
not really that special.
Im 21, and I live and work in Hamilton, Ontario, in the great country of Canada. It's an okay
place to live, and an okay place to work, but if I'm still here in 15 years I'll be sorely upset.
I've spent almost a year now experiencing the great adventure of cohabitating with my girlfriend Allanna, whom I love dearly. She rocks my world and, despite our respective "quirks", we somehow manage to keep each other sane.
If you're bored, feel free to check out the ShoeCam, if it happens to be on right now.
I'm currently working as a technician/developer at Powernet CNS, a contract IT company in Hamilton. We provide
user support, solution integration, system administration, hardware service, etc. I do mostly techmonkey work, although
recently I have been involved in the development of a web-based job ticket system, integrated with our payroll and accounting
processes. It's kinda cool.
I used to do some freelance work for friends and family, but I find that when one's hobby becomes one's occupation, one starts to desire a new hobby. Unless you are a member of my immediate family, or I make the offer first, no, I will not fix your computer. Even then, you have to catch me on a good day.
I'm a confessed
computer geek. I spend probably more time than is healthy on the computer, playing games, chatting, or just messing around.
I'm a big fan of first-person shooters, especially when the developers go through the effort to actually include such things as
"plot" and "strategy". These reasons are, respectively, why I think Half-Life
and Rainbow Six and its associated titles are the greatest achievements of the
computer gaming industry since Wolfenstein 3D back in the day.
In the Real World, I enjoy combat-simulation sports, such as laser tag and paintball. Don't misjudge me based on that, as I am a
pacifist by nature; I simply enjoy the challenge of out-thinking and out-maneuvering the opponent(s). If you happen to stop by LazerMania
in Hamilton on a members' night, I go by Ding Chavez. Fear my accuracy record :)
In warmer weather, I like to get out on my bike and ride around the Niagara Escarpment. It's good for my mind. I figure the bumpy
trails shake the ideas around.
My musical tastes are somewhat varied... right now I'm on a huge Offspring kick... they make
some great music to be angry to. I'm also a big Blue Rodeo fan. OLP? Sure. 3 Doors Down?
Why not? Dido, Counting Crows, The Tragically Hip, Van Halen, Barenaked Ladies, U2... if it's good music, I'll probably listen to it.
I'm a big supporter of MP3 technology and Napster. Every time over the past year or so that I have purchased a CD, I decided to
do so because I had downloaded and sampled the music ahead of time. The best way to improve music sales is to increase interest in the
music. Any avenue of exposure, including the Internet, should be embraced by the recording industry. But that's just my opinion.
Hey, I just said that I use MP3s... are the RIAA police gonna bust down my door now?
